Watch Your Step

Deuteronomy 4:9-24 
Most of us understand the importance of watching our step. 
Falls never happen because someone intended to fall. 
"Before I leave, there are some things you need to know." 
It is moving from where you were to where you can be.
”Watch yourselves, take heed, be careful." 
The greatest danger they're facing is what could happen within their own hearts.

1. Don’t Forget What God Has Done For You.  

• The danger is that they will lose sight of what God has done for them. 
• "Don't forget."  
• For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. (2 Peter 1:9 ESV) 
• When you were remember what God has done for you, you stay closer Him.  
• Don't let yourself forget.  

2. Don't Let Anything Take God's Rightful Place.

• Everything revolves around me.  
• Don't let anything take God's place in your life.  
• "Thou shall have no other gods before,"  
• Love God above all others.  
• When you give God His rightful place, you're moving in this direction. 

3. Don’t Let Go of the Life God Has Called You To.

• Our relationship with God is covenant based.  
• "This is yours. Don't let go of it." 
• Look at the life that God has promised you.  
• But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.  (1 Peter 2:9 ) 
• If Moses had to watch his step, so do we.  
• No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. (1 Cor. 9:27) 
• You still have the promised land ahead of you.
