The Only Question Worth Asking

9/7/2026

Deuteronomy 10:12-22

This is what life is all about
God hasn't given up on them.
And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? (Deuteronomy 10:12 ESV)

1. God Has Chosen You.
14 To the Lord your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.
If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. (Galatians 3:29)
"I have called thee by name. Thou art mine." (Isaiah 43:1 KJV)
He chose you.
What should we do about it?
Moses is saying that more important than any outward ritual is the inward act of surrendering your whole self.
It's about yielding your heart in relationship to the God who chose you.
A stiff-necked ox pulls against the yoke, resists guidance, and flatly refuses to cooperate.
2. God Is a Nurturing, Compassionate Father to All.
He is the God above all.
18 He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.
The ancient world wasn't exactly known for taking care of the disenfranchised.
He cares for those who have no one to care for them
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows — this is God in His holy dwelling. (Psalm 68:5)
God's message has always been a message of salvation for all people.
3. God Is the Source of Everything Good in Your Life.
It means that if there is any praise coming your way, it's because of Him.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights. (James 1:17)
Every step of that journey was God's doing.
His commands are given to us for our own good.
Following God commands always works for you, never against you.
God wants you to know that He's offering you the best life possible.
Cling to Him.
We're to hold on to Him as if He's all we have — because in the truest sense, He is.
What does the Lord your God require of you?
God has never been satisfied with the idea of merely checking boxes and observing traditions.
And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? (Deuteronomy 10:12 ESV)
