​The Journey Of Commitment

Matthew 26:6-16

There is usually harmony until competing agendas take place.

Conflict.

The only way to resolve the conflict is for someone to set aside
their own agenda.

The Godly adventure is the strong desire to follow the Lord Jesus Christ – no competing agenda, just simply walking by faith.

“It’s MY way or the highway?”

“It’s MY agenda. It’s MY way, and there is no discussion.”

In a loving relationship, when there is no competing agenda, there is unconditional love.

If I give and give and give, I should get something back.

Before you know it, it looks like the only reason we need God is so that He can fix our problems.

Mark 9:33 “What were you arguing about on the road?”

“He likes you a lot, but He likes me more.”

“What are we going to get out of this?”

However, the beautiful thing about a loving relationship is that it forgives and forgives and forgives and forgives.

He's incredibly patient with each of us.

“Follow Me.”

All the disciples except Judas made the turn.

He decided to take matters into his own hands.

“Look at her. She’s wasting perfume. And look at Him; He’s allowing her to do that.”

Matthew 26:10 “Why are you bothering this woman? She’s done a beautiful thing to Me.”

Matthew 26:11 “The poor you will always have with you, but  you will not always have Me.”

Matthew 26:13 “I tell you the truth. Wherever this Gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”

"I can't take this anymore. It makes no sense at all."

Matthew 26:14 “Then one of the twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priest and asked, ‘What are you willing to give me if I hand Him over to you?’ So, they counted out for him thirty silver coins, and from then on, Judas watched for an opportunity to hand Him over.”

"I'm taking matters into my own hands."

Judas learned that you can't force God's hand.

“I have sinned, for I have betrayed innocent blood.”

“Too bad.”

“I’ve followed Jesus; I’ve prayed; I’ve listened to worship music; I’ve listened to the messages, but I have my own will.”

#1. When you say “No” to Jesus, you are saying to Him that you are responsible for the outcome of the journey, that you will walk without His presence.

#2. When you say “No” to God and you allow your agenda to clash with His agenda, you move toward a life of destruction.

#3. When your agenda clashes with God’s agenda, and you believe that you know more about what your life needs and where you need to go than God does, and you begin to take it into your own hands, it is just a matter of time before you will be back to where you left off.

"I have sinned, and I have betrayed innocent blood."

You cannot get away from God’s love.
