The Greatest Commandment

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 
He's urging them to follow God closely and remain faithful to Him.  
They're entering a land filled worship of idols, fertility cults, pagan altars, and godless living. 
A commandment that will anchor them through life's ups and downs.  
It's a life plan.  
It carries the connotation of hearing with the intent to respond, and the intent to obey.  
These words are for each and everyone of us.  
"Do this and you will live." 

1. Loving God Is the Center of Who You Are 

• It begins with love.  
• He is saying that love for God is to occupy the very center of our lives.  
• Proverbs 4:23 "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." 
• He is the guiding influence behind your choices, priorities, and decisions. 
• Love God with your whole life.  
• Your entire being belongs to Him. 
• Love God with everything you've got.  
• Love God with every dimension of your life.  
  

2. Loving God Is the Center of All You Do 

• What fills the heart eventually flows into the life.  
• "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." (Luke 6:45) 
• The things that matter to us should find their way into our conversations.  
• A relationship with God is not something reserved for one day a week.  
• The question is whether He is the center of your life.  It’s about building your life around Him. 
  

3. Loving God Is the Center of Every Moment of the Day 

• He’s taking the command to love God and stretching it across the entire day.  
• … to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night. (Psalm 92:2) 
• These words are a daily reminder of who God is and who they belong to. 
• "Lord, my life belongs to You." 
• Keep God before you.  
• "Abide in me, and I in you." 
• It's about a relationship. 
• Is Loving God the center of my life?
