A Place of Quiet Rest

Deuteronomy 11:10-25

The location has changed, but your thinking hasn't caught up yet.
Moses wants to remind them one more time of what the Promised
Land is all about.
“A place of rest,”
How do we make that journey into the Promised Land way of living?

1. This New Place Is Nothing Like the Old Place.
"The life you're about to live won't be like the life you've always known."
In Canaan, you'll learn to look to God.
All of Egypt's power proved to be no match for God who spoke through Moses.
It works just often enough to convince us we can do it without God's help.

2. This New Place Is a Place of God's Provision
This means that the people of Israel had to depend on God more than themselves.
The point here is that provision was never Israel's burden to carry.
Everything depended on God sending the right amount of rain at the right time.
They needed God to do what only He could do.
There comes a point where every believer must stop staring at the Nile and start looking to heaven.
It frees us from self-sufficiency.
"Without me you can do nothing." (John 15:5)

3. The Place of Rest Is Entered One Step at a Time
24 “Every place where you set your foot will be yours.”
But it was possessed gradually.
God changes us step by step
The final destination — for them as well as for us — was not a place.
"Take the next step.
Every faithful step you take brings you to a place where His promise becomes your experience.
God's desire was never simply to move His people to a different country.
But every step of obedience chips away at that part of Egypt that's left in us.
Today's He's simply asking you to take the next step.
