Psalm 101:3-5

It does prevent you from getting older.

Every generation has tried to find short-cuts and work- arounds .

These are all disasters waiting to happen.

Throw out the mocker, and fighting goes, too. Quarrels and insults will disappear. (Proverbs 22:10)

You need to distance yourself from every toxic element that day-to-day life brings your way.

1. UNWORTHY OBJECTIVES

I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless.

They each lead to destruction.

"Pleasing to the eye." (Genesis 3:6)

This term refers to any unworthy goal or any unworthy objective.

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:2)

The Bible says that wherever you put your treasure, your heart will follow.

2. UNWORTHY CONVERSATIONS

The media knows more than ever before the kind of "journalism" people want to read.

Number one is celebrity gossip.

Number two is true crime.

The truth is that those who print the news have always known, to some extent that bad news sells.

Rumors are dainty morsels that sink deep into one's heart. (Proverbs 18:8)

A man is more likely to mind his own business when he has business worth minding.

...therefore, do not associate with a simple babbler. (Proverbs 20:19 ESV)

3. UNWORTHY ASSOCIATIONS

Keep away from angry, short-tempered men, lest you learn to be like them and endanger your soul. (Proverbs 22:24)

"Bad temper is contagious— don't get infected."

Bad company corrupts good character. (1 Corinthians 15:33)

He's saying one bad influence can cause a great deal of damage.

We must be selective in who we allow to shape our thoughts and our behavior.

"I will keep myself as far from the stench as possible."

It was this determination that kept leading him back to the right place.

I will reject perverse ideas and stay away from every evil.

I will keep my distance from that which doesn't empower my intention to live a life pleasing to God.
