Psalm 101:1-2

This psalm is one of David's best works.

David knew virtually his whole life that he would ultimately be King of Israel.

David's Statement of Purpose.

"I will."

Maintaining a personal connection with Him.

His religion was surface level, and not much more.

A mere nod in His direction one day a week is not enough.

We all live according to some sort of guiding purpose.

I will keep my personal life in order.

"Set your house in perfect order before you criticize the world."

He kept finding his way back to the center.

1. I Will Build My Life On A Foundation Of Praise.

"How we spend our days is how we spend our life."

Begin the day with praise and end the day with praise.

Some days it may seem that the unpleasantness lasts from yesterday till tomorrow.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV)

"….begin at once to live, and count each day as a separate life."

2. I Will Build My Life On A Commitment To Integrity

2 I will pay attention to the way of integrity.

With a commitment to doing his very best.

It was David's commitment to integrity that kept bringing him back to a right relationship with God.

We give our best every time.

I will demand the best from myself, and I will not give myself an excuse to settle for less.

That's why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ's mighty power that works within me. (Colossians 1:29)

3. I Will Build My Life On God’s Strength, Not On My Own Weakness.

So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! (1 Corinthians 10:12 NIV)

Our struggle with sin and our tendency to fall doesn't typically begin with a case of badness.

The awayness ultimately leads to the badness.

We find our strength in His presence.

The common thread is that we keep our personal lives in order by keeping close to Jesus.

You can take the path of David.

You can be intentional about the direction your life takes.
