Hebrews 11:24-25
Hero to Zero and back to Hero.
1. Who am I?
2. What are my choices?
3. What is really important?
4. What are my goals?
#1. Be yourself.
Moses had to deal with an identity crisis almost from the day he was born.
"To reject, deny, or disown."
#2 . Accept responsibility for your own life.
"It's not my fault"
"Someone else pushed me into this."
God never wanted us to focus on the negative and to live in a defensive mode.
How do you know when you've grown up?
You cannot blame somebody else for the direction of your life.
Your character will determine your happiness, and your character is determined by the choices you make.
#3. Establish a value system for your life.
"What is really important?"
Hebrews 11:26 "He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures in Egypt because he was looking ahead to his reward."
What are the values that you base your life on right now?
1. Pleasure.
2. Possessions.
3. Power.
"Yes" to God and be able to say "No" to other things
1. Moses decided that God's purpose is more valuable than popularity.
Popularity and being somebody one day doesn't last.
2. People are more valuable than pleasures.
Moses chose pain over pleasure.
Hebrews 11:26 “He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as greater value than the treasures of Egypt.”
3. God’s peace is more valuable than possessions.
Many of us have so much to live on and so little to live for.
"Man’s life does not consist of the abundance of things or possessions.”
“God’s peace is more valuable than possessions.”
Hebrews 11:26(b) "Because he was looking ahead to his reward."
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Enter in.”
Your character determines your happiness.
Your choices determine your character.
Your values determine your choices.
Your vision determines your values.
#4. Never take your eyes off the goal.
He used the eyes of faith.
Hebrews 11:27 "By faith, he left Egypt not fearing the king's anger. He persevered because he saw Him who is invisible."
To live an effective life, I need to focus on the future.
Obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off the goal.
Paul talks about his problems as light afflictions.
Those were his light afflictions.
2 Corinthians 4:16 "Therefore, we do not lose heart though outwardly we're wasting away, yet inwardly, we're being renewed day by day for our light and momentary troubles are achieving for an eternal glory that outweighs them all."
2 Corinthians 4:18 "Therefore, so we fix our eyes, not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
1. He refused.
2. He chose.
3. He regarded.
4. He saw.
5. He endured.
Waiting is one of the most significant tests of faith.
"God will do it in His time to strengthen your faith."
